Pindari Adventures
ACTIVITIES
A selection of our activities are detailed below - please note these are venue specific
STONE HUT HIKE
Developing Essential Skills
The Stone Hut was built by a previous owner of Elouera, approximately 30m above the creek. The hut has one internal room with a fireplace. A few artifacts are on display. There is a covered activity area and a small rainwater tank provides water for washing hands.
This activity provides insight into the subsistence-style simple living of a previous era. An opportunity for participants to learn and develop some essential life skills i.e. lighting a fire, boiling the billy and cooking a damper
Goliath - Stone Hut - GPS & Navigation - Boats - Yabby Canyon - Bush Survival - Truck Pull - Water Crossing - Desert Buggies - Canyon Crossing
Goliath
Overcoming Fears
Goliath is a Buttress traverse that challenges many participants to overcome their fear of heights/falling by presenting a situation that they see as high risk.
The activity is located on the southern bank of the Pindari Dam opposite Platypus Island.
It is essentially an assisted scramble up and along the rocks and cliff face. Participants are attached to a traverse rope, and instructed on techniques to best conquer the "Goliath". The activity starts with hike to the Barge, followed by a boat trip across to the climbing site.
GPS & NAVIGATION
Planning and Practical Skills
Navigation is an essential skill for anyone entering the bush. The ability to read a map and use a GPS is not only useful for navigating a pre-determined route but could also save a life e.g. a search and rescue operation.
Navigation training at Pindari gives participants the basics in reading a map, radio protocols, and using a GPS. Other practical applications such as measuring and judging distances, identifying landmarks, and general orientation in the bush are included.
This is a condensed session that teaches participants how to use a GPS to navigate, and practically experience a short navigation hike.
BOATING & ZIP LINE
Developing Life Skills
This activity provides an opportunity for participants to learn and develop basic boating skills, while having a great deal of fun.
The objective is for participants to follow instructions in how to start the motor and drive the boat safely, while looking out for each other and their boat during some challenges that will build their skills and confidence.
It is an excellent opportunity to have fun, show responsibility and develop some real-life skills i.e. teamwork, communication and leadership.
BUSH SURVIVAL
Developing Life Skills
Pindari Adventures offers a range of activities that teach participants general life skills. Bush survival skills are essential for any one spending time in the bush.
The objective of this activity is to gain a greater understanding and appreciation of our Australian bush and learn some basic bush survival skills, such as finding water, lighting fires and making shelters so participants would be able to survive in the bush overnight.
YABBY CANYON
NIGHT ACTIVITY - Developing Team Work
In every war, our engineers have played a pivotal role in providing troops with many and varied solutions for overcoming obstacles, crossing creeks and rivers, minefields etc. Some of these obstacles may be well within our own lines, although many are close to the front line, and therefore require quick, efficient and silent passage through or over or around the obstacle.
This activity is a walk through a semi-dry granite creekbed carrying logs. In some areas participants need to scramble up the rocks using their hands, supporting each other and the using rope provided.
The objective is to get the whole team through the canyon with dry feet and without any of the logs touching the ground.
TRUCK PULL
Developing Mateship
Teams often unite under difficult circumstances. Strong ties are built under the pressure of intense adventure or physical challenges. Often the more difficult the circumstances, the better the results i.e. increased team bonding leads to greater sense of belonging, improves team performance and achieves success.
The Australian Army uses activities such as truck and trailer pulls in training to produce similar results. Pindari Adventures has adopted a similar approach to produce strong ties inside the working team and with those who are encouraging on the side.
WATER CROSSING
NIGHT ACTIVITY - Developing Communication
In every war, our engineers have played a pivotal role in providing troops with many and varied solutions for overcoming obstacles, crossing creeks and rivers, minefields etc. Some of these obstacles may be well within our own lines, although many are close to the front line, and therefore require quick, efficient and silent passage through or over or around the obstacle.
The activity is situated across one of our dams. A cable runs above the dam and there is a small plastic boat which is used as the ferry.
The objective of this activity is to transport the whole team including the logs via the ferry from one side of the dam to the other as quickly and efficiently as possible whilst in stealth mode.
DESERT BUGGIES
Developing Confidence
This is a fun activity that builds skills and confidence. Participants will team up as a driver and passenger, rotating part way through the activity to ensure everyone gets a chance at driving.
Through this activity, participants will learn basic driving skills, spatial awareness and co-ordination.
Other outcomes include understanding momentum and force, and effects thereon, along with managing risk.
As each buggy includes both driver and passenger, building trust, communication and co-driver navigation are other key outcomes from this activity.
CANYON CROSSING
NIGHT ACTIVITY - Developing Group Coordination
In every war, our engineers have played a pivotal role in providing troops with many and varied solutions for overcoming obstacles, crossing creeks and rivers, minefields etc. Some of these obstacles may be well within our own lines, although many are close to the front line, and therefore require quick, efficient and silent passage through or over or around the obstacle.
Canyon Crossing is essentially a rope swing across a small gully to a designated landing zone.
The Objective of this activity is to get all members of the team successfully across the gully using the rope swing, landing and remaining on the landing Zone. Maintain maximum rewards by not letting any of the logs come into contact with the ground.
